What is an Audition

Audition is a part a talent perform in order to get a role. Audition is trial performance that allows casting directors or people who can asses a talent, to evaluate an artist’s work or level of talent. Audition is conducted live as well as on videotape.

There are various kinds of audition:

An audition is a sample performance by an actor, model, singer, dancer, musician, dancer or any other performing artist. Audition is used in the casting process, and functions as a job interview for a performing artist. During an audition a performer will display their talent through a previously memorized or rehearsed solo piece.

Some auditions involve performing a script that the actor is not familiar with. In a music Audition, a musician may be asked to read music at various levels of difficulty. In a musical theatre audition, the performer may be asked to sing something in the genre which is related to the musical theater show. In a dance audition, a dancer might be asked to learn a new choreography, rather than showcasing prepared work.
